Chrome Built-in AI APIs Demo

This demo showcases Chrome's experimental Built-in AI APIs. Chrome 138+ desktop required with flags enabled.

🚀 Setup Required

  1. 1 Use Chrome Canary, Dev, or Beta (v138+)
  2. 2 Enable flags: chrome://flags/#prompt-api-for-gemini-nano
  3. 3 CRITICAL: Download Gemini Nano model at chrome://components
    ⚠️ If "Optimization Guide On Device Model" is missing, see troubleshooting below
  4. 4 Join the Early Preview Program

🔧 Troubleshooting: Model Not Available

If Chrome AI APIs show as "Unsupported" or `ai` object is undefined:

Problem: Missing Gemini Nano Model

The most common issue is that "Optimization Guide On Device Model" doesn't appear in chrome://components.

Solutions to try:

  1. Try BypassPerfRequirement:

    Go to chrome://flags/#optimization-guide-on-device-model Set to "Enabled BypassPerfRequirement" if available Restart Chrome and wait 15-30 minutes

  2. Try different Chrome channel:

    Download Chrome Dev or Chrome Beta Some channels may have better model availability

  3. Wait for gradual rollout:

    Google is rolling out the model gradually by region and hardware It may take days or weeks to become available

  4. Check system requirements:

    • Desktop only (Windows 10+, macOS 13+, Linux) • 22GB+ free storage • GPU with 4GB+ VRAM • Unmetered internet connection
